About this project
Zoya is the chat assistant in the corner of this site. Ask her about projects, skills or experience. She follows fixed rules: every reply comes from this site's own content, she copes with typos, and she doesn't make things up. When a visitor asks to book a call, share contact details or check my availability, a small Vercel service sends me a Telegram message so I don't miss it.
What I did
- Built it rule-based: every reply comes from the site's own content, with typo matching so “experiance” still works.
- Added the Telegram alert. It fires once per visit at the first sign of real interest, limits repeats per person, and stays quiet if it isn't set up.
- Built a call-booking flow: it asks for a name only when needed, takes a day and time, and puts them in the Telegram message.
- Kept long chats smooth: after 50 messages only the visible ones are drawn, and a “New message” button appears instead of jumping to the bottom.
- Made the chat accessible: focus stays inside while it is open and returns to the button on close, and screen readers hear typing and new-message updates. Checked with a real browser test.
